I believe you have a point. The Republicans have a lot of work to do. But if they take their cues from Gov. Chris Christie, whose approach to fixing New Jersey's deficit and out of control spending is dead on, the Repubs will gain the support of conservatives, moderates, independents and members of the tea party. When you spend to fix an economic recession, you end up needing to raise taxes, which increases unemployment. But when you cut taxes, and cut spending, and give small businesses some breaks, then employment will rise, and the government will shrink and need less taxes to begin with.

The GOP which pretends to be a "big tent" party despite ostensibly contradictory evidence is attempting to co-opt the tea party for its own political advantage. You observe Michael Steele's remark that (paraphrase) "we have got to work in concert to kill Obama's agenda." Where are the proactive instructions? How do you bring down the deficit by pruning taxes? How do you fix the health care issue? While I am very irate at dems in congress and, to a certain extent Obama and his advisors, for not being more aggressive in getting the facts out, I also think that while the repubs have won momentum by broad opposition the tide is about to turn. You have to advance ideas supported by confirmable data that are good for the country

Animal mistreatment has constantly got to me. It looks like it is getting worse, at least where I live. But there are nonetheless generous individuals out there who feel like I do that we must take care of them. I hope the judicial system will catch up with our means of believing about this. It is still treated as a comparatively petty criminal offense. That's wrong.
